The invention relates to a communication system and method for the use of the communication system is provided in order for a previously used access point name (apn) to be activated again, in order to provide a connectivity between an application service provider (asp) and of a telematics unit again in a vehicle. The steps of the method comprises: receiving data on the vehicle via the asp with the use of a first access point name (apn); experience of a connectivity loss between the vehicle and the asp, wherein the loss of connectivity connecting a deactivation of the first apn with respect to the asp; transmitting a the first apn associated request for a renewed activation of the vehicle via a second apn; and in response to a request for a renewed activation, receiving a notification, that the first apn was activated once again, on the vehicle.
