Wavelet - based assay to fouling - diagnosis of an aircraft heat exchanger

A method and apparatus for estimating the fouling - state of a heat exchanger of an aircraft. The training sensor measurements of a the operation of the heat exchanger, relevant parameter is maintained and the training sensor measurements are subjected to a wavelet - transformation, in order to obtain wavelet - data. The wavelet - data are subjected to a data reduction, in order to obtain representative features, which indicate the training sensor measurements. Then a classifier is trained, the representative features suitable to assign to fouling - classes. The trained classifier is made to test sensor measurements of the heat exchanger used in the test sensor measurements to assign a fouling - class the fouling - state of the heat exchanger to estimate.
