The system (1) has a microphone type device (2) for acquisition of data relating to ambient sound within a cattle breeding enclosure (E). A monitoring device (3) is arranged with a processing unit for processing of gathered ambient sound data so as to detect sound events corresponding to coughs emitted by a cattle or bovine. A comparison unit compares an acquired value of sound events with a threshold value of sound events. An alarm unit alarms an operator when the acquired value of sound events is higher than the threshold value of sound events. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for management of health and respiratory condition of cattle (2) a computer program comprising instructions for performing a method for management of health and respiratory condition of the cattle.
