The present invention relates to a tire comprising a crown reinforcement formed of at least two working crown layers of different widths and formed of inextensible reinforcement elements. According to the invention, the tire comprises in addition, in each shoulder at least one layer of metallic reinforcement elements parallel to each other in the layer and forming with the circumferential direction angles of between 15° and 30°, the axially inner end of said additional layer being radially outer surface and in contact with the layer of the radially outer working crown, the axially outer end of said additional layer being situated at a distance from the equatorial plane of the tire at least equal to the distance separating said plane and the end of the radially outer working layer and the distance between the said additional layer and the end of the layer of the axially widest working crown being greater than 1.5 mm.
