The present invention relates to a method for evaluating the quality of a sequence of images decoded, comprising the following steps, to a group of n images decoded: calculation of the first factors (fp1) of visibility of distortions as a function of local characteristics of the original sequence; production of cards of spatial distortions (cds); production of cards of temporal distortion (cdt); production of cards of distortions spatio-temporal perceptible (cdstp) by summation of the spatial and temporal distortion, weighted by means of the first factors; calculation of the second factor (fp2) of visibility of distortions as a function of the overall characteristics of the cards of spatio-temporal distortions; production of cards of distortions perceived by the block (cdp) by weighting the distortions spatio-temporal with the aid of the second factor.
