The invention relates to a method for providing driving assistance to a driver of a vehicle fitted with a plurality of sensors that can supply data for the overconsumption points of the vehicle, characterised in that it consists of: recording/acquiring data, at a defined frequency, on the overconsumption points of the vehicle, while the vehicle is travelling along a defined course; calculating indicators for each of the overconsumption points; constructing a journey profile combining all of the indicators once the data recorded during the journey has been processed, from values of the indicators and statistical data of a population of drivers of vehicles of the same category; calculating a mark for each overconsumption point; and displaying the marks to the driver, said marks quantifying the ecoresponsible behaviour of the driver.
