The invention relates to a system and a method for acquiring and managing archaeological field information, with application in the collection of data on an archaeological site 7, the organization and management of these collected data, in particular in the field of field of preventive archeology. The system comprises a database 1 capable of storing field archaeological data, at least one computer client 2 capable of enabling the acquisition in the field 7 of this data and their transmission, a server 3 able to receive this data transmitted by the client and manage their storage in the database, these data being grouped in stratigraphic units grouping archaeological field data relating to an elementary archaeological unit of a given field 7, the stratigraphic units being ordered according to a relationship of chronostratigraphic order and respecting a set of rules. The server comprises a control module 4 able to control the respect of the rules in the scheduling of the stratigraphic units in the database, and the server is able to implement this module when adding, deleting or a modification of a relationship between two stratigraphic units, to allow real-time maintenance of the coherence of archaeological field data stored in the database, particularly during the transmission, by the client, of archaeological field data to a stratigraphic unit.
