An apparatus for selectively amplifying the sound from a single source amongst multiple sources A, B, C comprises microphones M1, M2 for picking up sound from the sources. The signals are passed through delay system Tl, T2 and a matching system COM before output at point OT. The sound from one of the sources is amplified with respect to the other sources, and controlled by feeds from multiplication factors ML, MR. The multiplication factors can be controlled manually - or automatically, for example by tracking the eye movement LE, RE, signal from muscles movement or direct translation of signals from the brain.
