Test apparatus for simulated testing of a motor vehicle on at least one test bench, test bench with the test apparatus and method for simulated testing

The test apparatus comprises a frame 2 in the form of a functional model of the motor vehicle to be simulated. The frame comprises a front frame section 3 with a front axle model 6, a rear frame section 5 with a rear axle model 7, and a middle frame section 4 arranged between the front frame section 3 and the rear frame section 5. The length L of frame 2 is variably adjustable to allow the frame to represent many different vehicle structures with different wheelbases and mass distributions or centres of mass. Preferably the frame sections are slidable relative to one another. The apparatus may comprise four wheel models 13, 14, 15, 16, an exhaust system model and a mass model 11 of the engine or transmission. There may also be a mass balancer 24 having a variably positionable weight to provide different weight distributions. A method for simulated testing of a vehicle is also provided, wherein a wheelbase, a centre distance, a stiffness, a centre of gravity, a total mass, a mass distribution and/or inertia moments are adjusted so as to correspond to those of a real motor vehicle being simulated.
