A method and system for managing tickets for entry into a designated area comprises; providing one or more options for a person to obtain a ticket following a request; updating a record of the person to indicate that a particular ticket is allocated to the person when that person has obtained the ticket; wherein the updating comprises associating the ticket to a personal identification document registered with the persons record. The personal identification document may be a driving licence, passport or nation identity card and may be registered and verified before allocation of the ticket. The designated area may have eligibility requirements, such as an age limit, and the record of the person may be checked to ensure the requirements are met. This method means that before entry into an event, a ticket can be checked to ensure that it is carried by the person it was allocated to without the person being required to bring identification which may be lost or stolen. The ticket may be a near-field communication (NFC) or radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag or wristband that is read at the event.
