Tibial intra-medullary nail alignment support

A stabilising device to anchor the foot during orthopaedic surgery, e.g. tibial intramedullary nailing, with a system to aid in obtaining accurate rotational alignment of the limb. The device preferably comprising a foot holder 1 attached to a stable, radiolucent base 6 by means of a height adjustable, telescoping support arm 2, 5. Additionally the support arm incorporates a rotating ball joint 4 with a means, 3 of assessing rotational position of the foot. Radio-opaque markings 7, 11 may be present on the base 6 and foot holder 1 and are used in conjunction with an external jig 8 and rod 10 to ensure correct positioning and alignment of the foot relative to the tibia.
