This invention relates to humanized gut microbiota produced by inoculating the gastrointestinal tract of live, non-human mammals with human gut or faecal microbiota, to allow the establishment of a humanized gut microbiota in these animals, which can then be harvested for transplant into human patients. The microbiota of the gut, including bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeasts, can have a considerable impact on host health and wellbeing. Dysbiosis, or otherwise inappropriate composition of the gut microbiota, is being increasingly recognized as a factor in a variety of health problems in humans and animals.
