A method for producing toner includes adding a liquid containing dispersed resin particles into a liquid containing dispersed colorant particles having a volume average particle size of equal to or greater than 6 µm and having a zeta-potential sign opposite to a zeta-potential sign of the resin particles, until a zeta-potential of aggregates of the colorant particle and the resin particles has a sign opposite to the zeta-potential sign of the colorant particles, adjusting the zeta-potential of the aggregates, such that an absolute value of the zeta-potential of the aggregates is smaller than an absolute value of the zeta-potential of the resin particles by more than 10 mv, and adding a liquid containing dispersed resin particles having a zeta-potential sign that is the same as the sign of the adjusted zeta-potential of the aggregates, into a liquid containing the aggregates.
