NUCLEAR POWER REACTOR VESSEL WITH AN APPARATUS FOR CLEANING CIRCULATING WATER IN THE REACTOR VESSEL

An apparatus for the cleaning the water in a vessel (1) of a nuclear power reactor, wherein at least one, but preferably several apertures are formed in a partition (14) across a downcomer (15) of the reactor vessel. Each of said apertures communicates with a respective cleaning means (19) for cleaning of a partial flow of the reactor vessel water driven, by means of the pressure difference across the partition (14), through the cleaning means (19) in a flow direction (21) counter to the flow direction (29) of the main circulation flow from a low pressure portion (13) to a high pressure portion (18) of the reactor vessel (1) by means of main circulation pumps (25, 27). This cleaning action of the cleaner is to separate contaminating particles from the reactor vessel water which are inadvertently introduced into the water both during normal operation of the nuclear power reactor and during outage and service thereof.
