A cylinder head (1) for an internal combustion engine has a body (2) integrating in a single cast piece, the exhaust manifold. The exhaust conduits (9) integrated in the head form separate subgroups (16, 17) of exhaust conduits (9) merging into manifold portions (16a, 17a) superimposed and spaced apart from each other. A lower cooling jacket (18) below exhaust conduits, an upper cooling jacket (19) above exhaust conduits and an intermediate cooling jacket (20) which is extended between the superimposed portions (16, 17) of exhaust manifold are formed in the head. The lower cooling jacket (18) is longitudinally divided into a plurality of separate transverse chambers (180) associated to various engine cylinders and terminating in a common portion of the lower jacket (18) which is extended along the exhaust side of the head, while the upper cooling jacket (19) has a portion (196) extended longitudinally over the entire development of the head (1) and communicating with separate transverse chambers (198) located on the intake side of the head (1). The abovementioned lower cooling jacket (18) has a portion (20) thereof which is extended in the area of the body (2) of the head (1) which separates the superimposed portions (16a, 17a) of the abovementioned subgroups (16, 17) of exhaust conduits (9). The intermediate jacket (20) is extended over the entire longitudinal direction of the head and forms a main outlet (201) for the fluid at an end (6) of the head. The upper jacket (19) has a first portion (196) at the centre of the head and a second portion (197) extended longitudinally from said first portion (196) up to said end (6) of the head (1), where it forms an auxiliary circuit (198) adjacent to said main outlet (201).
