The invention refers to an implantable leadless pacemaker having a housing (100) and two electrodes (101, 102) arranged on said housing (100). The two electrodes (101, 102) are made of biocompatible materials that have different sensitivities to pH changes. The two electrodes are connected to an activity monitoring unit (105) that is adapted to determine an open-circuit potential difference between the two electrodes (101, 102) and to generate an activity signal derived from said open-circuit potential difference.
