An in-wheel motor drive apparatus is provided that facilitates the dissipation of the heat generated by a motor and that is excellent in cooling performance. A range (L) of number of revolutions within which a motor (B) generates a maximum torque by low-speed-rotation includes a high-output sub-zone (LH) in which a torque is no less than 50% of the maximum torque. In the high-output sub-zone, a loss in a stator represents no less than 50% of a loss in the motor (B), with the loss in the motor consisting of copper loss and core loss. The motor (B) may include cooling medium passage(s) (45) configured to cool coil portion(s) (28) of the stator (23) with a cooling liquid, and the copper loss may represent no less than 25% of the loss in the motor (B).
