The invention provides computer-implemented methods and tools for supply chain optimization. In one aspect, the present invention provides computer-implemented methods for supply chain optimization, wherein the supply chain comprises a plurality of depots and at least one production facility, wherein the method involves determining shipment volumes, storage volumes, and/or storage trigger levels in said supply chain, and wherein the method comprises the steps of a) demand forecasting using Discrete Event Simulation and Monte-Carlo simulations; b) re-supply strategy tuning; c) backward propagating the demand population; d) production planning; e) evaluating the final strategy; and; f) searching for best strategies.
