The present invention concerns a computer-implemented method for analyzing the cloneability of a virtual machine within a cloud management platform, the method comprising automatically identifying (1000; 2000) one or more properties of the virtual machine (1) which have changed after the virtual machine (1) has been cloned by the cloud management platform, scanning (3010), by an evaluation agent software program, a file system of the virtual machine (1) to identify one or more configuration files of an application layer of the virtual machine (1), generating (3040), by the evaluation agent software program, a list of indications (4) comprising those properties of the virtual machine (1) which occur in the one or more identified configuration files, and evaluating (4000) the list of indications (4), comprising automatically determining that the virtual machine (1) can be cloned within the cloud management platform, if the list of indications (4) is empty.
