A spectroscopic method for determining the limit of determination and the relative error comprises the following steps: - 1. Selecting an error function F (C); - 2. depositing a blank spectrum; - 3. detecting a reference spectrum with signal portion of the substance to be examined; - 4. Setting startup concentrations; 5a) multiplying the reference spectrum by the signal component of the substance with a factor; - 5b) adding the spectrum to the blank spectrum and determining the concentration of the substance C step and determining the relative error E step ; - 6. iterative adaptation of the parameters of the selected error function F (C); - 7. Recording a measurement spectrum of the measurement sample and determining the concentration C of the substance to be examined with the same method as in step 5b) and comparison with the determined determination limit and calculation of the relative error component by applying the error function from step 6.;Thus, a simplified, automatable method for the determination of the limit of quantification and for the quantitative estimation of the error of a determined concentration of the substance in a sample taking into account the chemical background is provided.
