There is described a process for segmenting an imaged examination zone (FOV). In the method of measuring projection data (RD) detected by the imaged examination zone (FOV). On the basis of the measured projection data (RD), an iterative reconstruction (IR) is carried out. Whereby preliminary image data (VBD), and preliminary texture features (VTM) are reconstructed. Based on the obtained preliminary texture features (VTM) expected provisional structures (VEK), preferably provisional contours in the examination zone (FOV) are determined. The expected provisional structures (VEK) are then taken into account in the iterative reconstruction of preliminary image data (VBD), and preliminary texture features (VTM). Moreover, an image segmentation method will be described. It also describes an image reconstruction means. Furthermore, an image segmentation means (40) will be described. Moreover, a computed tomography system (1) will be described.
