The invention relates to a scattered light smoke detector (1) with an optical measuring chamber communicating with the ambient air. The latter is received in the interior (IR) of a detector housing (2) and limited by a base body (3) and by a detector hood (4) of the detector housing. In the main body, a preferably planar circuit carrier (7) is accommodated. On this, a light-emitting diode (5) and a photosensor (6) are arranged in a scattered light arrangement adjacent to the measuring chamber. The light emitting diode and the photosensor each have an at least substantially orthogonal to the circuit carrier extending optical axis (A) and are located adjacent to the measuring chamber inside (IS) of the detector hood. A part of the inside has a mirror surface (S), which is opposite to the light emitting diode. The mirror surface has a mirror geometry such that a light cone (R, B) of the light-emitting diode intersects a reception region (E) of the photosensor in a first scattered light volume (Z1, Z) within the measurement chamber.
