PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weft knitted fabric that has heavier basis weight and contains an elastomer, in which the weft knitted fabric exhibits an instantaneous temperature rise even under low elongation when stretched, persistently generates heat when stretched by stretching and contracting the weft knitted fabric repeatedly, and enables heat generation by stretching in an efficient manner.SOLUTION: There is provided a stretchable weft knitted fabric having a structure composed of an elastomer and a non-elastomer, in which the stretchable weft knitted fabric has a basis weight of 400 to 900 g/mand percent elongation in a warp direction under load of 9.8 N of 50 to 100%. The stretchable weft knitted fabric has a content of the elastomer of 30 to 70 g/m. When the stretchable weft knitted fabric is returned to the original length after stretching up to 50%, and stress of a forward path and stress of a backward path at a point of 40% in the middle of stretching and contracting are measured, a stress ratio of the fabric obtained from following expression (1): stress ratio of the fabric=(stress of a backward path (N) at a point of 40%)/(stress of a forward path (N) at a point of 40%) is 0.40 to 0.70. An instantaneous exothermic temperature is 1.0°C or more when the stretchable weft knitted fabric is stretched in the warp direction.SELECTED DRAWING: None
