PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore a tentatively-defective slave unit for communication.SOLUTION: A radio relay system comprises a master unit and a plurality of slave units. The plurality of slave units are connected with a communication path at a lower-level side than the master unit. Each of the plurality of slave units comprises a switching unit, a communication unit, a determination unit, and a switching control unit. The switching unit switches between normal connection in which the master unit or an upper-side slave unit and a lower-side slave unit are connected via a communication unit and bypass connection in which the master unit or an upper-side slave unit and a lower-side slave unit are connected without going through the communication unit. The communication unit processes and communicates signals to be transmitted and received. The determination unit determines whether the communication unit is normal or abnormal. The switching control unit makes the switching unit switch to bypass connection if the determination unit determines that the communication unit is abnormal. The determination unit reboots the communication unit after making the switching unit switch to normal connection, and determines whether the communication unit is normal or abnormal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
