PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vector that improves production ability of fucoxanthin, a genetically engineered marine diatom with improved production of fucoxanthin, and a method for producing fucoxanthin.SOLUTION: The vector comprises: a PtfcpA (Phaeodactylum tricornutum fucoxanthin chlorophyll a/c-binding protein A gene) promoter derived from a marine diatom; and a gene encoding a phytoene synthase derived from the marine diatom on the downstream side of this promoter. The vector further comprises a gene for antibiotic selection and a gene of high sensitivity green fluorescent protein at the C-terminal side of the gene encoding the phytoene synthase. This vector is a genetically engineered marine diatom for producing fucoxanthin incorporated in the marine diatom as a host.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
