PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high Mn steel material having good hydrogen gas embrittlement resistance having cheaper price than a SUS316-based steel with controlling Ni equivalence and TS≥800 MPa and excellent in mechanical property under high pressure hydrogen gas environment.SOLUTION: There s provided a high Mn steel material for high pressure hydrogen gas having a chemical composition containing, by mass%, C0.40%, Si:0.05 to 1.0%, Mn:20.0 to 60.0%,, N0.10%, Ni:0 to 5%, Cu:0 to 5%, Co:0 to 5%, Al:0 to 1%,, Cr:0 to 5%, Mo:0 to 3%, W:0 to 6%, V:0 to 1.0%, Nb:0 to 1.0%, Ti:0 to 1.0%, Zr:0 to 1.0%, Hf:0 to 1.0%, Ta:0 to 1.0%, B:0 to 0.020%, Ca:0 to 0.0050%, Mg:0 to 0.0050%, REM:0 to 0.50% and the balance:Fe with impurities including P, S and O with P≤0.050%, S≤0.050%, O≤0.020% and further 0.05≤C+4 N≤0.40, a metallic structure of a matrix having, by volume percentage, a fcc-like structural phase:90 to 100%, a bcc-like structural unit:0 to 10% and a hcp structural phase:0 to 10% and total of the above mentioned structural units:100%, aspect ratio of a crystal particle of over 2.0 and TS≥800 MPa.SELECTED DRAWING: None
