PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for the protection and authentication of location services on the basis of a distributed security system.SOLUTION: Generally, this disclosure provides a method and apparatus for the protection and authentication of location services on the basis of a distributed security system. The method may include exchanging security keys between a secure location processor (SLP) and a location requesting entity that is external to the SLP; obtaining, by the SLP, location determination measurements; determining, by the SLP, location information on the basis of the location determination measurements; encrypting, by the SLP, the location information on the basis of the security keys; and transmitting the encrypted location information from the SLP to the location requesting entity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
