PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and pharmaceutical composition intended for the treatment of cancer.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, a polypeptide is isolated from Brevibacterium aurantiacum and exhibits methionine gamma-lyase activity and homocysteinase activity. A method for producing a polypeptide comprises isolating nucleic acid encoding the polypeptide and using a transformed host cell.
