OPERATION OF WIND TURBINE BASED ON FREQUENCY OF AC OUTPUT VOLTAGE SIGNAL SUPPLIED BY POWER CONVERTER OF WIND TURBINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a wind turbine on the basis of a frequency of an AC output voltage signal supplied by a power converter of the wind turbine.SOLUTION: A wind turbine 120 includes mechanical drive trains 222 and 228, a power generator 230 mechanically connected to the drive trains, and a power converter 240 electrically connected to the power generator. A method for operating the wind turbine includes the steps of: a) calculating a frequency of the AC output voltage signal supplied by the power converter; b) determining whether the calculated frequency significantly changed more than a prescribed threshold value with respect to the previously calculated frequencies; c) changing a power reference signal for the wind turbine when change in the calculated frequency is larger than the prescribed threshold value; d) supplying the changed power reference signal to a controller 250 of the wind turbine; and e) controlling the operation of the wind turbine on the basis of the changed power reference signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
