PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump having a short response time that enables a very high medication speed and a very low medication speed, hardly causes friction by including a very small number of mechanical components, does not need an additional valve, and can block a reverse flow of a material in a direction opposite to a transportation direction.SOLUTION: A peristaltic pump 1 includes a tube 2 for transporting a material in a transportation direction 4, and one or more piezoelectric elements 3 configured so as to cause compression of the tube 2. A method for transporting a material includes a process to continuously operate the piezoelectric elements 3 along the material transportation direction 4, and thereby cause the compression of the tube 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
