PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indicia reader and a method of operating the indicia reader.;SOLUTION: A method of operating a reader system includes: establishing a hand held reader configured to read an information bearing medium at an organization and accepting text message communication from the organization; reading the information bearing medium at the organization with the reader; and, sending at least one text message communication to an operator of the reader at the organization on a GUI of the reader from the organization when the organization recognizes a need for a specific notice requirement after reading the information bearing medium.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
