PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant growth rate calculation system capable of accurately measuring the growth rate of a plant, and a plant growth rate calculation method.;SOLUTION: According to the present invention, while the position of a reference point B 1 at an arbitrary place defined in the cell maturation area of a plant with reference to the image of the plant acquired by the camera is updated according to the degree of extension of the cell maturation area, a distance from the updated reference point B2 to an arbitrary point in the vicinity of the shoot apex of the plant at each measurement is calculated.
