PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grease for elevator rope achieving both of high traction property and high abrasion resistance and further having adhesion to a rope surface, an elevator rope and a traction type elevator using the grease for elevator rope.SOLUTION: The grease for elevator rope consists of a grease containing a base oil containing a hydrocarbon component and a naphthene compound in the grease for elevator rope constituting a grease layer of an elevator rope having a wire rope and the grease layer formed on a surface of the wire rope, wherein the hydrocarbon component is liquid or solid having kinetic viscosity at 40°C of more than 60 mm/s and is contained at 30 to 90 mass% of the grease.SELECTED DRAWING: None
