PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motion type solenoid valve and four-way selector including the linear motion type solenoid valve acting as a pilot valve, the linear motion type solenoid valve being capable of effectively reducing noise without requiring any substantial reduction of a frequency of a compressor when a heating operation is changed over to a defrosting operation and the defrosting operation is changed over to the heating operation and at the same time capable of performing a fast changing-over from the heating operation to the defrosting operation and from the defrosting operation to the heating operation.SOLUTION: In this invention, each of a first plunger 61 and a second plunger 62 occupies a suction position and a non-suction position in response to an applied voltage of a solenoid coil 51 of a linear motion type solenoid valve 50, and in cooperation with these operations a first valve body 71 occupies one end position where a port p1 and a port p2 are communicated to each other and the other end position where the port p2 and a port p3 are communicated to each other, a second valve body occupies an open position where a port p4 is opened and a closed position where the port p4 is closed, when the defrosting operation is changed over to the heating operation and when the heating operation is changed over to the defrosting operation, the second valve body 72 is set to have an opened position and a pressure at a main valve chamber 12 is reduced to a prescribed pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
