PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new liver cancer model animal and a new liver cancer therapeutic agent.SOLUTION: A genetically modified animal is provided in which the function of the miR-146b gene is deteriorated or disappeared. The genetically modified animal is, for example, a knockout mouse, and the accumulation of fat is not observed in the liver cancer in the miR-146b knockout mouse, and therefore is useful as a new liver cancer model animal without going through steatohepatitis such as NASH and is available in the screening of the medicine. Also, a pharmaceutical composition is provided for the treatment or prevention of the liver cancer comprising the miR-146b RNA or its precursor RNA, the DNA encoding them, or the mimic. A method is also provided in which an expression level of the miR-146b RNA in a sample obtained from an examinee is measured and compared to a standard value, the fact that the expression level is significantly deteriorated is identified and detected, and a patient is identified to be suitable for the treatment or prevention of the liver cancer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
