PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a web repair system and web repair method which can automatically repair a defective portion of a web accurately and quickly.SOLUTION: A conveyance control unit 64 stops a web 12 being conveyed under the physical relation in which a defective portion 30 exists within a search range R where an attachment machine 50 can move. An imaging control unit 70 causes a camera 52 to sequentially execute "the first movement operation" of moving to a scan start position P1 and "the imaging operation" of imaging the inside of the search range R of the web 12 being in conveyance stop along an X2 axis direction. A repair control unit 74 causes the attachment machine 50 to sequentially execute "the second movement operation" of moving to the repair start position P3 and "the repair operation" of repairing the defective portion 30 in the web 12 during conveyance stop.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
