PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frost detector and a frost formation state detecting device that can detect a frost formation state with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A frost detector 101 has: a base member 19; a moisture detection part 13 that is formed by a moisture sensitive body pattern of which a resistance value changes by moisture; a pair of electrode parts 17 that are electrically connected to the moisture sensitive body pattern 13 and are separated from each other; and a heat generation part 15 that is provided near the moisture detection part 13 and can vaporize frost and moisture attached to the moisture detection part 13. A frost formation state detecting device comprises: this frost detector 101; power feeding means that feeds power to the heat generation part 15; resistance value detecting means that outputs a signal corresponding to the resistance value of the moisture sensitive body pattern between the pair of electrode parts 17; and control means that receives the signal of the resistance value detecting means. The device detects a frost formation state at a frosted part such as a heat exchanger or the like where the frost detector 101 is arranged, on the basis of time length of the power feeding to the heat generation part 15 and changes in the resistance value of the moisture sensitive body pattern.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
