PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high temperature superconducting coil not having insulation for each turn by a coil manufacturing method using thermoplastic resin, in which a cooling side plate and a coil winding can be fixed strongly without changing the characteristics as a non-insulated coil, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method for a high temperature superconducting coil 3 where rare-earth high temperature superconducting wires 2 of a high temperature superconducting coil are not bonded, and an insulation for each turn fixing the end face of the wound rare-earth high temperature superconducting wire 2 to a cooling side plate 5 is not provided, the high temperature superconducting coil 3 consisting of the rare-earth high temperature superconducting wire 2 and not having an insulation for each turn is wound around a reel 1 made of glass fiber-reinforced plastic, a thermoplastic resin film 4 is applied to the cooling side plate 5, the cooling side plate 5 and the high temperature superconducting coil 3 are assembled, and then the assembled high temperature superconducting coil 3 is heated and cooled, thus affixing the high temperature superconducting coil 3 and the cooling side plate 5 by means of the thermoplastic resin film 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
