PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weather data assimilation method which, even if only the horizontal wind velocity component is observable, can output assimilation calculation results with less conflict with an actual weather phenomenon as to the vertical wind velocity component.SOLUTION: A weather data assimilation method comprises: a precalculation step for calculating, based on a weather model, three-dimensional wind velocity estimation data in a target area including at least one observation point for each time in a first period; generating three-dimensional wind velocity data for assimilation at the observation point by combining wind velocity observation data for the horizontal component observed at the observation point and the vertical wind velocity component included in the three-dimensional wind velocity estimation data at the observation point; and obtaining assimilated three-dimensional wind velocity data at the observation point by assimilating, based on the wind velocity data for assimilation at the observation point, the three-dimensional wind velocity estimation data in the target area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
