PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a head-up display (HUD) image without distortion with small calculation amount regardless of the position of a viewpoint.SOLUTION: An installation position of an imaging section 40 placed to be directed in a prescribed direction is detected at the position of a viewpoint 52 of a driver, a projection image Ip of a reference pattern Ir projected on a front visual field of the driver is captured by the imaging section 40, and a first coordinate correspondence relation between the reference pattern Ir and a point corresponding to the projection image Ip is calculated. A second coordinate corresponding relation between the reference pattern Ir at the actually detected position of the viewpoint 52 and a point corresponding to a projection image Ip which is predicted to be captured from the viewpoint 52 is estimated using the first coordinate correspondence relations obtained at a plurality of installation positions of the imaging section 40, and coordinate conversion tables Mip_x and Mip_y are generated to deform the reference pattern Ir so that the projection image Ip can be observed without distortion from the viewpoint 52.
