PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector capable of minimizing deformation of a solid refractive index matching material when end faces of optical fibers are placed face-to-face.SOLUTION: An optical connector includes a ferrule, a first optical fiber 1 held by the ferrule, and a clamp which has an insertion section for a second optical fiber 3 to be inserted and is configured to axially align and secure the first optical fiber 1 and the second optical fiber 3. A solid refractive index matching material C is provided on an end face of the first optical fiber 1 on the insertion section side. The end face of the first optical fiber 1 has formed thereon a protruded section 1A protruding further toward the insertion section side than a central section of the end face.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
