PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a setting assistance device for optical safety sensors with which it is possible to discriminate whether or not there is a change to the transmitted dates/times of setting data and the contents of setting data transmitted in the past.SOLUTION: Provided is a setting assistance device for optically detecting an object entering a protection area and outputting a detection signal, comprising: setting data generation means for generating, on the basis of user operation, setting data that includes area setting information for designating a protection area; check code generation means for generating a check code on the basis of the setting data; setting data transmission means for transmitting the setting data to an optical safety sensor; transfer information transmission means for transmitting transfer information that includes the setting data transmitted date/time and the check code to a transmission destination of the setting data; transfer history acquisition means for acquiring a transfer history consisting of two or more transfer information from the optical safety sensor on the basis of a history capture command; and transfer history display means for displaying the acquired transfer history on a screen.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
