PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an atmosphere monitoring system and an atmosphere monitoring method that can be suitably used even under the state of restricted power in a time of disaster by suppressing power consumption.SOLUTION: An atmosphere monitoring system comprises: a sampling tube 12 for collecting atmosphere in an internal space of a storage body 51 of which the internal space can be contaminated with radiation; a sampling pump installed in the sampling tube 12 for feeding the atmosphere in the sampling tube 12; a dehumidifying unit 14 installed in the sampling tube 12 for dehumidifying the atmosphere; a gas concentration meter installed in the sampling tube 12 for measuring the concentration of a particular gas in the dehumidified atmosphere; and an adjustment system for adjusting at least any of pressure, temperature and flow rate of the dehumidified atmosphere flowing into the gas concentration meter. The humidifying unit 14 is placed in a high alert section where the amount of radiation is expected to be high closer to the storage body 51 than a measurement system including the adjustment system and the gas concentration meter, separately from the measuring system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
