A method and system for obtaining an object's speckle noise reduced image from an object's optical coherence tomography (OCT) image data is proposed. Each cross-sectional image includes a plurality of scan lines obtained by measuring the time delay of light reflected in the depth direction from the optical interface in the object. The method includes two alignment steps. First, the cross-sectional images are aligned, and then the image patches of the aligned cross-sectional images are aligned to form an aligned set of patches. An image matrix is then formed from the aligned patches, and matrix interpolation is applied to the image matrix to obtain an image with reduced speckle noise of interest.
