PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-road sign detection device capable of handling changes in width of white lines in a distortion image in which an overhead view image is subjected to a distortion conversion.SOLUTION: The on-road sign detection device performs the steps including: picking up an image of a road surface of an area around a vehicle; generating an overhead view image by carrying out a viewpoint conversion based on the imaging position on the picked up image; setting a road sign detection area in a predetermined range on the overhead view image; generating a distortion image by executing a distortion conversion on the image in the on-road sign detection area to convert a rectangular shape to a parallelogram; and detecting the position of the on-road sign using the distortion image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
