PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ghost reduction device capable of effectively reducing a ghost under a situation where the ghost is easily generated and suppressing the degradation of image quality under a situation where the ghost is hardly generated and to provide an imaging apparatus including the ghost reduction device, a ghost reduction method, and an imaging optical system.SOLUTION: The ghost reduction device includes a plurality of diaphragm blades 11 which are arranged in the vicinity of a pupil position in an imaging optical system 2 and form one or a plurality of openings 11a through which light passes, diaphragm blade driving means 12 which drives each diaphragm blade 11 and adjusts the size and/or position of the opening 11a, and control means 13 which controls the drive of each diaphragm blade 11 by the diaphragm blade driving means 12. The control means 13 performs driving control so that the diaphragm blades 11 entirely shield the symmetric position of the opening 11a with respect to the optical axis of the imaging optical system 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
