PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a squirrel-cage induction motor which reduces an eddy current loss of a rotor core and can be rotated at high speed.SOLUTION: A rotor 10 of the squirrel-cage induction motor comprises: a rotary shaft 15; a rotor core 16 which is fixed to the rotary shaft 15 and with which a plurality of bar slots extending in an axial direction are formed while being spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction along an outer circumference; and a plurality of conductor bars 17 that are disposed within the bar slots and extend in the axial direction. The rotor core 16 is formed by laminating a plurality of thick plate core members 27 in the axial direction. The bar slots are formed by performing laser processing, cutting processing or gas cutting on the plurality of thick plate core members 27. The rotor core 16 is fixed by shrink-fitting a central opening 28 radially outside of the rotary shaft 15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
