摘要
An unknown microorganism in a sample is identified. Mass spectral determinations going back to genus or species classification levels are supplemented by detailed determination of the underlying classification levels or variants by infrared spectra using a limited reference library of infrared spectra. These libraries may be genus-specific including only the infrared spectrum of one genus of microorganisms, or species-specific including only the infrared spectrum of one species of microorganism. [Effect] Robust mass spectral identification of unknown microbial species is mainly used to identify medically important variants such as pathogenic types (eg EHEC and EPEC) and antibiotic resistant microorganisms (eg MRSA). Complemented by detailed analysis of subspecies and variants using infrared spectra. [Selection] Figure 2
