PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coating film having a target film thickness which can easily form a coating film having a target dry film thickness by determining a coating surface through visual inspection while coating, and to provide a coating composition.;SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a coating film having a dry coating film thickness Tμm (where T is 250 μm or more), which includes the following steps [1] and [2] of: [1] coating a coating composition until a coated article surface is concealed, the coating composition containing an epoxy resin (A), a curing agent for the epoxy resin (B), 0.03-5 wt.% of a coloring pigment (non-volatile component) (C) and 20-70 wt.% of an extender pigment (non-volatile component) (D) with respect to 100 wt.% of the coating composition (non-volatile component), a liquid resin (E) non-reactive to the (A) and (B), and a silane coupling agent (F), and satisfying a following requirement (a); and [2] drying the coating film obtained in the step [1] to obtain a coating film having the dry coating film thickness of Tμm. The requirement (a) is such that a color difference ΔE1 between the coating film having the dry coating film thickness of Tμm and a coating film having a dry coating film thickness of 0.7 Tμm which are formed of the coating composition is 2.0 or more.;SELECTED DRAWING: None;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
