PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exchange that can determine whether the exchange is faulty or not, and where a faulty section is at the exchange in operation.SOLUTION: An exchange comprises: test means including transmitting/receiving means for transmitting first test data toward an uplink direction and for recording second test data received from a downlink direction on a test communication path, connection means for configuring a service or test communication path, and recording means for recording received third test data or transmitted fourth test data; and control means for collecting the first and second, and third or fourth test data, and for determining whether there is a fault on the test communication path or not, and where a fault section is. The connection means sets the test communication path by replacing an uplink starting point and a downlink ending point from a call originating terminal to the transmitting/receiving means, and an uplink ending point and a downlink starting point from a call incoming terminal to a return path on the service communication path.
